MELINDA'S STORY
Melinda Nelson was diagnosed with ACC and Cushing’s syndrome in 2021 when she was 32 years old. Shortly after her primary tumor was removed and she began treatment, she faced a challenging recurrence in multiple areas including her spine, hips, shoulder, lungs, and liver. Determined and supported by a team of specialists, she diligently explored treatment options and underwent procedures. Her tumors have been stable since November 2022 - a testament to her perseverance and the expertise of her physicians.

In August 2024, Melinda's TikTok content garnered significant attention, leading to a feature on major platforms such as People.com, AOL.com, and Yahoo News (UK), amongst others. This recognition came after a UK reporter discovered her content, showcasing how Melinda’s presence on social media has captured interest across the globe. Melinda is proud to be an advocate for all ACC warriors and hopes this recognition will raise awareness about ACC.

Melinda is driven by a deep-seated desire to support the ACC community and empower those affected to see beyond statistics. As someone living with a stage IV diagnosis, she wants to do everything she can to contribute to the discovery of more effective treatment options and to make those options accessible to all.

She is a professional technical writer and works from home. In her free time she can be found traveling, eating vegan food, attending LGBTQIA+ events, and spending time with her rescue mastiff, Artichoke. Melinda's approach to managing her health includes embracing complementary therapies, so she enjoys attending sound baths, getting massages, and practicing yoga.
