Adrenal Cancer
Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare and aggressive cancer with a generally poor prognosis that develops in the adrenal gland's outer layer. ACC affects about one in one million people in the U.S. each year. Patients with the best outcomes are under the care of physicians who have treated multiple cases of ACC, however, due to the rarity of the disease, there are few specialists across the world. ACC is considered an orphan cancer and consequently, does not get much dedicated funding or research. Treatment options are limited and are not highly effective. Jaydira Del Rivero, M.D and her team at the National Institute of Health (NIH) are dedicated to supporting ACC patients and developing novel treatment approaches and targeted therapies for ACC tumors.

Adrenal Cancer Challenges
Lack of Specialist Care
With few physicians experienced in treating adrenocortical carcinoma, patients often struggle to access the specialized care they need. This can lead to delays in diagnosis and suboptimal treatment approaches.
