Emily's Story

Emily Stebbins was diagnosed with stage I low-grade adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) in August 2022 after a long journey to find answers. Following surgery to remove her adrenal gland, pathology confirmed the presence of ACC, a rare cancer that affects only a small number of people each year.

Today, Emily has no evidence of disease (NED) and continues routine monitoring through regular scans and bloodwork. While she is grateful for her current health, her experience with ACC has given her a deep understanding of the challenges, uncertainty, and emotional impact that often accompany a rare cancer diagnosis.

As a board member, Emily is passionate about supporting patients, caregivers, and families affected by adrenal cancer. After going through her own diagnosis, she understands how isolating and overwhelming it can feel. She wants to help others feel less alone and is committed to raising awareness and supporting research. The ACC community feels like family to her, and she hopes to uplift and support others in any way she can.

Outside of advocacy, Emily is a soon-to-be speech-language pathologist with a passion for helping others communicate and connect. In her free time, she enjoys playing softball, spending time with her family, and being with her two dogs, Sadie and Murphy. She values time with the people she loves and tries to enjoy the small, everyday moments as much as possible.
